Mayan Ruins Private Tours Riviera Maya
The Riviera Maya sits at the heart of ancient Mayan civilization. Clifftop temples at Tulum. The jungle pyramid at Cobá. The astronomical precision of Chichen Itza. The rarely visited Ek Balam. All available as private tours.
Six Major Mayan Sites. All Available as Private Tours.
The full archaeology of the Yucatan Peninsula. No group buses.
The Riviera Maya has more significant Mayan archaeological sites within a few hours drive than almost anywhere else in the world. Most tourists visit one, take a photo, and leave. The real opportunity is understanding the differences between them. Tulum is the only major Mayan city built above the sea. Cobá has the tallest climbable pyramid in the Yucatan. Chichen Itza is the most architecturally complex and the most visited. Ek Balam has the finest carved stucco in the region and almost no crowds. Our private Mayan ruins tours cover all of it with certified guides and private vehicles, starting from any hotel on the coast.
Tulum & Cobá Ruins
Two completely different sites. Tulum sits above the Caribbean Sea. Cobá rises out of dense jungle. Both are private, both include a certified guide.
Chichen Itza
The most famous Mayan site in the world. Our private tours arrive early, cover the full site in depth, and combine with Valladolid or a cenote swim.
Ek Balam
One of the most undervisited major Mayan sites in the Yucatan. Climbable pyramid, extraordinary carved stucco, and almost no tourist crowds.

- Spend time at each structure with full historical and astronomical context
- Access Ek Balam and Cobá without the tour bus volume of major sites
- Combine ruins with a cenote swim on the same private day
- Flexible pace for photographers, history enthusiasts, and families

Why AB Transfers for Mayan Ruins Tours
We have been running private archaeological tours across the Riviera Maya for years. The difference is in the detail.
Certified for Every Site
Not every guide is certified to operate at every archaeological zone. Ours are. That means deeper access, better explanations, and a higher quality experience at each site.
We Know the Less Visited Sites
Ek Balam and Cobá are not on most group tour itineraries. We run them regularly because they are genuinely worth visiting and the experience is completely different from Chichen Itza or Tulum.
Ruins Plus Cenotes in One Day
Every major ruin site pairs naturally with a cenote nearby. We build these into the itinerary so you get the full Yucatan experience without needing multiple separate days.
Často kladené otázky
Najděte rychlé odpovědi na nejčastější otázky týkající se našich transferů, procesu rezervace a služeb – abyste mohli cestovat s důvěrou a pohodlím.
From anywhere on the Riviera Maya corridor we run private tours to Tulum ruins, Cobá, Chichen Itza, and Ek Balam. Each site is a different experience and all are reachable in a single day from Cancun, Playa del Carmen, or Tulum.
Each site offers something different. Chichen Itza is the most architecturally impressive and historically significant. Tulum is visually unique with the Caribbean backdrop. Cobá has the tallest climbable pyramid and a jungle setting. Ek Balam has the finest carved stonework and the fewest crowds. If you only have one day, Chichen Itza or Tulum are the most complete experiences. If you have more time, Ek Balam is the most rewarding for serious archaeology travelers.
Tulum and Cobá can be combined in a single day as they are relatively close to each other. Chichen Itza and Ek Balam can also be paired, as Ek Balam is about 30 minutes from Chichen Itza. Combining Tulum with Chichen Itza in one day is possible but makes for a very long day with significant driving. We recommend letting us know your priorities and we will suggest the most realistic combination.
Yes. All four sites are accessible for children and the history engages them well with the right guide. Cobá has a small pyramid children can climb. Tulum has a beach inside the site. Ek Balam has a climbable pyramid with extraordinary views. Our guides adapt the commentary and pacing for families.
Cobá and Ek Balam are the two major sites where pyramid climbing is still permitted. Cobá has the Nohoch Mul pyramid at 42 meters, the tallest climbable pyramid in the Yucatan. Ek Balam has a slightly shorter pyramid but with exceptional carved stucco at the summit entrance. Climbing at Chichen Itza and Tulum has been prohibited since 2006.
We recommend booking at least 48 to 72 hours in advance to guarantee your preferred date, guide, and vehicle. During high season from December to April and over major holidays, availability can fill up quickly. Last-minute bookings are sometimes possible. Contact us directly to check.
